You Rang? Part Seven

Today is the day and I am so nervous.  Jas was on her way to James’ dad’s house to meet him in person for the first time.  Not only would she be meeting him, but his brother and father as well.  It could be very awkward and being shy did not help matters.  She just hoped she didn’t get lost.  Directions and Jas did not go hand and hand.

What would she say?  What if he didn’t like her in person?  Her nerves got the better of her and she pulled over to take a few calming breaths.  Come on Jas.  It’s just James.  You’ve spoken to him, you know him.  Now just drive and get there.

A few minutes later she pulled up to the apartment, parked and got out of the car.  She took her steps slowly, calming herself along the way.  When she got to the door, she paused again and before she could stop herself, she knocked.

When the door opened she smiled.  There he was.  James.  Just as in all his pictures.  She sighed with relief when he pulled her into his arms for a hug.  It felt so good to be touching him, finally.  He pulled back and smiled down at her.

“I didn’t think you would ever get here, I’ve been driving my family nuts.” He said with a chuckle.

“I was so nervous.”

“What is there to be nervous about?  You know me.”

“You have to admit, we might know each other, but meeting in person is different.”

“Maybe a little, but I’m still me.  Come on; let me introduce you to my family.”

James took Jas’ hand and led her into the apartment.  She took a deep breath and smiled.  Everything would be fine.  She liked James, she would like his family and she would finally be able to hold the man she was starting to have feelings for.

“Dad, John, This is Jasmine.  The girl I told you about, the woman with the voice.”

Jas’ face flushed a bright red.  She hated to have the attention drawn to her, but she smiled and held out her hand.

Once the introductions were complete the four sat down to talk a little, with the television in the background the chit chat stayed idle.  Jas kept looking at James out of the corner of her eye.  She really wanted to get him alone, but didn’t want to be rude.  He kept smiling back at her and finally asked what she had been waiting for.

“Why don’t we head out?  Be back later, guys.”

James took her hand and helped her off the couch, almost rushing her out the door.  Once they were by her car, he pulled her close for the kiss she dreamt about, his lips, soft against hers, brushing back and forth.  She closed her eyes and leaned into him, letting his strong body hold them both up as his tongue caressed her lips, asking, no begging for entry.  Who was she to deny him?  She slightly opened her mouth, allowing him to plunder her mouth.  It was heaven, everything she imagined it would be and more.  His hands roamed her body and she wanted to pinch herself to make sure this wasn’t a dream.  When he pulled back, Jas moaned and tried to draw him closer.

“We can’t stand out here making out babe.  Not in front of my dad’s building.”

Jas noticed that she wasn’t the only one having trouble breathing.

“Get in the car.  I know a place we can go.”

Jas hurried into the car, driving them to a more private place so they could get to know each other better and in person where dreams were about to become reality.

You Rang? – Part Four

James was getting anxious.  Tonight he planed to call Jas in her room.  This would be the first time the two would be able to talk freely.  Usually they talked while she worked and there wasn’t much they could talk about with her whole shop listening.  James just felt relieved that they had email.  They talked every day and getting to know more and more about Airman Jones was interesting.  Funny, smart and shy were just a few words he used to describe her.  Another word, beautiful.  She had just a little bit of everything.  He couldn’t believe the picture she sent to him and couldn’t wait to meet her in person.  He just hoped she agreed.

He pulled a chair up to the communal phone.  Earlier in the day he let the guys in the hall know he wanted to use the phone.  Of course they razzed him about it, but he thought Jas would be worth it.  He took a deep breath and dialed her number.

“Man your voice is so sexy.”

He heard her giggle on the other end.  Oops, he didn’t mean to say that out loud.

“Hi James, it is nice to hear your voice too.” She had such a breathy voice that sent chills up his spine.

“Hi Jassy.  I missed talking to you today.  What have you been up to today?”

He heard the sigh in her voice, “Not much.  It was pretty boring.  I studied a lot, but I was preoccupied all day.”

“Yes, really,” she laughed.

“And why were you preoccupied?”

“Oh, I don’t know.  I was waiting for the time I would hear from my handsome Marine.  I got my pictures in the mail today.  Everyone agreed that I’m a lucky girl.”

Now it was his turn to become a little embarrassed.

“Um…you showed me off?”

“Of course.”

“I take it that is a good thing?”

“Yes James, it is a very good thing.  You are a handsome man and I can’t wait to see you in person.  I’m counting down the days until you get here.”

“About that, I wanted to ask you something.”

“Would you like to go to my dad’s wedding with me?  Well, the reception any way.  Only my sisters and brother and I will be at the wedding, but they are throwing a big party after and I would really like to take you.”

“I don’t know James.  Are you sure?  I mean, you really don’t know me.  What if you don’t like me when we meet?”

“I don’t think it will be a problem.  I know enough about you.  I know I like you and I know we get along.  Plus, we have more time to get to know each other.  I won’t be home for another month.”

“I know.  A month is a long way off.”

“It is, but we can talk every day until then.  I love listening to you and I’m so glad my brother egged me on to call you back.”

“Will I get to meet him too?  I need to thank him.”

“Yes, he’ll be there.”  James chuckled again.

“I’m going to be nervous, just so you know.  I can’t believe you want me to meet your family.”

“I want to spend as much time with you as I can, but I should probably visit with them too.”

“True, I’ll try not to keep you all to myself.  What have you been up to today?  Anything exciting?”

“Only if you think ordering supplies is exciting.  I don’t want to talk about me.  I want to listen to you.”

“What do you want to talk about?”

“You could read me the phone book and I’d be happy.  I dreamt about you last night.”

“You did?  What was the dream about?”

“I might make you blush.”

“Make me blush, I want to know.”  If it was possible her voice became more airy.

“You were here, in my room.  I had you in my arms, we were naked and wrapped so close I didn’t know where I stopped and you began.  We started to kiss, not able to keep our hands off of each other.”  James heard her breathing become more rapid.  He was having a hard time catching his breath as well.  He couldn’t wait to really have her in his arms.  “Then sadly my alarm went off.  I’m hoping tonight I can pick up where I left off.”

“I know what I’ll be dreaming about tonight.”

“I sure hope so babe.  I want to be in your dreams.  This month can’t go fast enough.”  Just then a group of guys walked up the stairs.

“What is it?” She asked.

“The guys just got back.  I know one of them needs to call home.  I’m going to have to go.”

“That’s ok James.  We can talk again tomorrow.  Or at least email each other.”

“Sounds like a plan.  I can’t wait until then.  Dream of me.”

“I will.  You dream of me too.  Bye James.  Until tomorrow.”

They both hung up the phone.  He couldn’t wait to meet this girl.  There was just something about her that called to him.  He couldn’t wait to sleep so she would be there in his dreams.

You Rang? – Part Three

Jas couldn’t stop grinning.  It was hard to believe James called her back.  The man intrigued her.  Who called and flirted with a stranger because they liked a voice on the other end of the phone?  At least it helped fill her time.  It got boring working thirds.  You could only watch the same cheesy movies so many times and studying got old after a while.  Jas wondered if he would try again.    In fact she was hoping he would call her back.  This time she would give him her home number.  It would be easier to talk to him with out the fear of the whole shop listening.

Her BIDDs phone rang and she held her breath in anticipation, hoping it was him on the other line.

“Offutt Operator number five, how may I help you?”

“Could you please dial—“

Shoot, not him.  Jas dialed the requested number and got back to studying.  She still had a few weeks before she had to test for rank and there was only so much studying a person could do.

“Hey Jones, there is a call for you on my phone, you want me to forward it?”

Jas’ heart pounded in her chest, her cheeks flushed and she had a hard time catching her breath.  It had to be him.

“Sure Price, send it my way.  I’m going to log out for a bit.  It’s slow tonight anyway.”

The light on her phone flashed red and she tried to calm herself before she picked up the phone.

“Airman Jones, how may I help you?”

“Jasmine?  This is James, from before.  Can you talk now?  I didn’t get you in trouble did I?”

“No, not at all, of course I can talk for a little bit.”

“Well…you’ve answered one of my questions.  You’re military, not civilian.  I’m in the Marines”

            “Really?  I’m not surprised.”

            “You aren’t?”

“No.  You rang through a Camp Lejeune number.  My dad was a Marine.  Sorry, I’m babbling a little.  I do that when I’m nervous.”  Jas bit her lip waiting for him to respond.

“You’re nervous?  About talking to me?  Why?”  He sounded surprised.

“I don’t know.  I’m just pretty shy and you have to admit, this is a little weird.”

“Maybe a little, but in no time we’ll be old friends.”

“Rogers, you coming?” a different voice sounded through the phone.

            “Who was that?”

“Some of the other guys in the hall.  We are getting ready for chow.  Can I call you again?”

“I would really like that.  Let me give you my dorm number.  That way we can talk with out me being at work.”

“I like that.  I like that a lot.  Hey, why don’t you give me your email address to?  We can exchange pictures.”

            Jas hesitated for a second.

“Hey, if you don’t want to that is fine Jasmine.  I just thought it would be another way to get to know each other.

“No, it isn’t that.  Sure, you can email me.  I’ll have to see if I have any pictures.” She rambled off her email address.

            “Rogers, COME on!”

            “Sorry about them.”

“Don’t worry about it.  I hope to hear from you soon.  Night James.”

“Night Jasmine.  I’ll be thinking about you.”

Jas continued grinning.  There was just something about that man that kept a smile on her face.  It was a nice feel and she hoped the next call would come soon.
